What is Chlamydia?
A bacterial Infection.
How can you catch Chlamydia?
Sexual Intercourse, Oral Sex, Anal Sex. (You cannot catch chlamydia through kissing, toilet seats or touching someone).
What are the Symptoms of Chlamydia?
Lower abdominal/tummy Pain, pain when peeing, Swollen testicles (in men), Bleeding between periods (in women), usual discharge, or No symptoms (50% men and around 80% of women have NO symptoms).
What long term effects can Chlamydia have if left untreated?
This differs in each individual but if left untreated Chlamydia can cause Infertility in men and women, Athritis (Reactive Arthritis) and Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) and Ectopic Pregnancies (where the baby develops outside the womb -usually in a fallopian tube which can be dangerous, a side effect of PID).
